Holy excellent timing Batman.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.  The blessed time of the year.  I saw a writing on one of the local churches that said: ‘X Christ from Christmas and all you have is mess’.  Cute attempt to remind us to remember the most important reason to celebrate and not the new iPresents.  Andy Stanley in one of his sermons said to the atheist-types: ‘Answer the question who was Jesus’.  I think it was part of these series:

Not being prolific or full of substance, I took a sabbatical from the ED (Elegant Donkey, not the problem).

Today is January 1st, 2014 and, being in bed with a head cold, I come to a realization that I have been officially “off the grid” for a year.  There are so many interesting reflections that one experiences being a mature adult (I just saw a referee throw a flag on ‘mature’) and staying off “the path of normal life” for a year.  Some reflections are really profound as

Some are just realizations of penetrating recognition of life’s importance and fragility.  That every moment passed is passed.  Every breath I take takes me further away from the first time I met my wife and saw my kids for the first time.  How every day has about 50 to 60 thousand seconds to stay productive.  To leave a legacy.  To ensure that the proverbial ‘dash’ (born died) is fulfilled with purpose, faith and meaning.

So, here I am, in a new 2014.  Not going to make any resolutions.  With God’s Will, this will be a healthy, productive, successful and living-deliberately year and not be small souled 🙂
