The last couple of days.

Morning of July 9th marks our 5th day back in USA.  It is impossible to describe the feeling of the limo pulling in to Ellard Village.  5 days later, the feeling is ever present.

Last couple of days in Argentina were eventful.  We went to some of the restaurants we knew and liked.  Our Italian place, Guido’s, with the owner, Carlos, had become one of our favorites.  Mostly due to atmosphere.

Oh yeah, we took a day trip to Temaiken park in Escobar.  IMG_2219One hour bus ride.  Very comfortable bus.  Plaza Italia was in a walking distance from our apartment.  about 10 minutes away.

Picture a large zoo where the animals are nearly free.  No cages.  Some of the coolest animals I’ve seen.

I got absolutely fascinated with the chitas.  Their elegance was indescribable.  The way they moved, looked at you and played with each other.

Chitas and bats.  Yes, I was really fascinated by those huge bats.  There was something majestic in their hanging-up-side-down-and-eating-or-doing-everything-else lives.

We also went to the famous cemetery de la Recoleta.  Lots of tombs and mausoleums.  City of dead.  Didn’t spend much time there.

As we left the cemetery, we walked in to a very crowded museum of John Lennon’s New York years.  The Beatles era never left Buenos Aires.  Awesome 🙂

There are lots of Argentinian clothing brands.  I mean a lot!  Carla Danielli, Roberto Antonelli, etc., etc.  I liked Thomas Cook brand IMG_2176

With all the scandals about CIA and NSA, I was reading about, I was also noticing CIA all over the Buenos Aires.  Evidently, it stands for something else there IMG_2222

Cars, reminding us the Soviet Union.

The one parked outside of our apartment had a lock on it.  They were so old that a donation center in US would raise an eyebrow on you, attempting to donate it.

Will miss the Subte (subway in Buenos Aires, short for Subterrain) and their graffiti-covered cars and musicians.

Did I mention that the Beatles era never passe in Buenos Aires? IMG_2180

Lots of taxi rides. IMG_1950IMG_1949

Last night went to a very fancy restaurant.  Even the King of Spain dined there.  We got a pretty bad case of food poisoning.   IMG_2288Louisa got it really bad.  Whole night fever.  I wasn’t too good, but not as bad.   Packing 8 suite cases was fun.

I’m sure that there are things that I’m forgetting to add.  All in all, it was a fantastic experience.  Family of 4 in a city that you don’t know anyone or the language or the culture for 5 weeks.  Walking around all the time.  Dancing tango, shaving heads, buying hats, riding taxes, getting tired.
