Tears of joy.
So, what happens to us when we hear amazing music? Why tears, why chocking? People watch unknown, unexpected Susan Doyle and … tears:
Girls in the stadium screaming and crying so loud that not only them, but the Beatles themselves couldn’t hear what they were playing or singing:
But why tears? Why so much emotion associated with music? Why listening to a tune, more so over, watching it, and even more: being in the audience – it is so emotional. What kind of emotional synapses are being triggered? When I hear the first chords of Eleanore Rigby, Yesterday, Girl, ,(feel-in the blank with most of the Beatles songs or Vivaldi’s Winter, or Chopin’s Etude or many others) such a waterfall of feelings and emotions gets invoked?
Earlier in 2013 (January?) I bought two tickets to Andrea Bocelli concert, which was 11 months away, which felt like eternity. December 15th finally came. Too quickly. Being a year off from “normal” life slows down life and accelerates it simultaneously. On one hand, there is plenty more time to spend (read: invest) on important things in life. One another – when you do what you love (in my case: nothing) – time flies 🙂 So, December 15th came and we went to see Andrea. The tickets cost so much that I thought that Andrea will be able to see us. Poor choice of words (he’s blind), feel us, meaning we’d be in touchable distance. In reality, the tickets were good, but nowhere near what I thought. We’re there. It is magnificent. It is breathtaking. Not just Andrea. Some of the ladies that sing with him or alternate with him are just as amazing (or pretty damn close). But he was remarkable:
(this is the Lord’s Prayer; he didn’t sing this in Atlanta, but after I found this, I couldn’t resist)
His singing partner, Svetla Vassileva was stunning:
Div4s were stunning and sexy:

And Heather Headley was simply awesome:
So, why the tears? I remember being in the concert, listening to Andrea that I felt my fingertips. It was so profound, his voice so pure.
There must be something more than just buying a ticket, going to concert, staying in traffic on the way, finding seats, etc. vs listening to very same music on some high-quality electronic equipment. There are some invisible molecules in the air that make you receive the music not just with your ears, but with every fiber of your body.
On an unrelated subject, in August 2014, we’re going to see 5 Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. This happens every 823 years or so.
