Day three. Morning.

Late morning 🙂

Yesterday we did more walking around our hood.  Weather was cloudy with a light drizzle around 3PM.  Our apartment from across the street (where the botanical gardens are).  We are on the second floor.

Had a coffee and lunch not far from our apartment.  Good cafe called Confiteria del Botanico.  photo (5)

Interesting custom: whenever we order coffee, they bring it with a small glass of sparkling water and sweets.  Sometimes orange juice, like in this cafe.  The sweets here are really sweet.  Too sweet.  Ice cream is too sweet too, but good.  Went to the phone store.  I think it’s called Personal, which is pretty big here, like Verizon.  Had some problems with local SIM cards and credits, but we’re fully in business now.  One thing to mention: most of the cafes and restaurants have a Wi-Fi, so we practically don’t use a land line.

Walked around more, exploring the local streets and inhaling the city.  Stopped by for a drink in a place called Daniel’s or Daniella’s.  After ordering drinks, we ended up eating some nachos and empanadas.  Melting cheese and red wine – good.

It was around 9:30PM and the cafe we were in was a stone-throw away from Armenia restaurant.  Walked in and were greeted by friendly owner Pablo (Poghos) and Edward and had some good Armenian food.  As we were leaving, the owner gave me the Armenian newspaper: Argentina armenian newspaper

and I noticed that the person on the photo in the newspaper was sitting right next to us, so I asked the owner who he was.  He was the Armenian Ambassador to Argentina.  Great guy.  Spoke about where we lived in Yerevan (very common question for Yerevanians 🙂 ).  Of course, found people that we knew in common.  Strolled back home tired and happy.

Now, ready for another day.

PS  You can say anything you wish about eating the best beef in the world, but there used to be a word in use ‘beef-witted’ (ref: http://www.deathandtaxesmag.com/195348/18-obsolete-words-which-should-have-never-gone-out-of-style/ ).  Beef industry must have had something to do with retiring that word 🙂

PPS  we should bring ‘lunting’ back from retirement too (same reference as above).
